I sought to find out what the word really meant. Apparently
initially the word was just a word which really meant nothing save for the ‘WI’
which could have stood for ‘Wireless’. It was a word that brand consulting firm
Interbrand Corporation came up with. It was catchy and easy to sell but had no
real meaning to it.
Just like any serious organization, the WI-FI
Alliance had to attach some meaning to whatever appears in their logo. This was
after people wanted to know what it stood for. They settled for Wireless
Fidelity which gave WI-FI a meaning.
Now you know, save your thanks for something else.
