Beaten By Wife? Not A Kalenjin Man

A fortnight ago news of a popular politician being mercilessly butchered by his wife had the internet talking. Statistics has it that most Kenyan men are enduring the beating and due to ridicule they are afraid of going public about it.
There are however some men who claim their toughness and pride won’t allow such atrocity to happen to them. They are the Kalenjin men. In the dating world they are hated and loved on equal measure. Some of the positive attributes are that they are responsible, faithful, good in bed and would never deny a ball (pregnancy).

The other side of the coin has them labeled as totally unromantic, doesn’t know how to katia and that they are overly tough. Being tough is what they do not deny as Kiprono, a pal from office laments that that a woman can never raise a hand on him. “Hiyo ni kukaliwa bwana a man is the head and the master of the house. No one beats up the master. We are the only real men remaining.” Seems as women continue to get empowered men too have to pull up their socks.
